Uist Day Trips
The regular ferry service between the islands means a day trip to Uist is easily achieved during peak season. These day excursions take you to the most beautiful locations and close to a wide array of wildlife. Bird watching
Excellent opportunities for spotting species rare to other parts of the country, including Golden Eagles & corncrakes. Herons nest by the loch and stream below the lodges. The loch attracts other visitors such as mallards, geese, swans, curlews and many other species
Other moorland and ground nesting birds such as red grouse can be seen in their unspoilt natural habitat. Birds of Prey are also attracted to this secluded spot including falcons, buzzards and Golden Eagles, often spotted swooping down over the lodges

Flora
The Outer Hebrides is a marvellous place to see wild flowers. The visitor can relish the colours and the scents at their best among the west coast machairs, with the calling of birds adding another dimension to the experience.

Wildlife
The Outer Hebrides are remarkably rich in all forms of wildlife, particularly in late spring and early summer when the machair is at its peak. Among the species to see are the otter, red deer and common grey seals. Red deer roam free on the moorland surrounding the lodges.

Pop into the Callanish Visitor Centre Cafe just down to road from Whitefalls for some great coffee and cake while finding out more about the mysterious Callanish Standing Stones and how they came to be here.
